Interview with the British Fantasy Society (plus two YouTube videos)

I did an interview with the British Fantasy Society podcast in December last year which I had completely forgotten about until a few days ago, when it was published.

But you get it: December is a blur. You’re tired, you want the break to come, that magical period between Christmas and New Year, when time loses all meaning and no-one expects anything of you, and you can read on the couch and eat unwisely. That sweet spot, between watching Die Hard on Christmas Eve, and beginning the year anew on the 2nd of January. Ah. Love it. As a writer, it’s the only time I really take off (or for that matter, want to take off – like many a writer, sometimes I’ll take a break from home and the kids to go to a hotel and, well, do more writing).

Anyway, I digress. The interview. We discuss paths to publication (in Australia and elsewhere), the craft of writing, the power of art to rehabilitate, and the threat of AI to creativity. It’s a decent interview and if you’re interested, I’ve hyperlinked it twice in these first three paragraphs.

For some bonus content, I’ve included videos from a couple of BookTubers, for no other reason than they are talking about me. First is Jonathan from Words In Time, who reviews my novel The Escher Man.

And second is Ben at Benjamin’s Bookclub who discusses his Best Science Fiction books of all time.
