Update: as you’ll see on the right, the art accompanying my story for the upcoming issue of Interzone looks remarkable (click for larger image). The rest of the preview for the September-October issue is available here. I believe it will be out within a few days. I’m very much looking forward to it.
Update 2: Locus magazine received an advance copy of Interzone, and Lois Tilton reviewed it alongside some of the other major magazines released in September. I was very pleased to see she ‘recommended’ Dark on a Darkling Earth. You can see her review here.
I’m very pleased to be able to say that I’ve sold my Novelette, Dark on a Darkling Earth, to Interzone. It’s a great magazine, the UK’s leading science fiction / fantasy story venue and one that always has fine artwork and exceptional stories.
I’m proud of Dark on a Darkling Earth – it’s the best thing I’ve written thus far. It is a dark, dream-like story about an old man separated from his family in war-torn China, a land now without memory.
The story came to me after reading a book of poetry by arguably China’s greatest poet, Du Fu. I wasn’t sure if it was going to find a home though, so was pretty bloody happy when Interzone’s editor, Andy Cox, contacted me and said he wanted it in the September issue.
